The problem of waste is one of the environmental issues that requires serious attention because it can cause pollution and reduce environmental quality. One of the efforts that can be made to overcome this problem is through environmental education which aims to increase public awareness in managing waste responsibly. This research aims to examine an effective environmental education model in increasing public awareness of waste management. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through literature studies on various relevant scientific sources. The results of the study show that environmental education models based on community participation, such as waste sorting activities, waste bank programs, and environmental campaigns, are able to increase community understanding and involvement in waste management. Therefore, the development of sustainable environmental education programs is needed to encourage changes in community behavior in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
