Pemanfaatan Limbah Plastik sebagai Produk Kreatif untuk Mengurangi Pencemaran Lingkungan

Abstract

Plastic waste pollution is one of the most pressing global environmental issues, driven by rapid population growth, urbanization, and increasing consumption of single-use packaging. This study examines the utilization of plastic waste as creative products as an effort to reduce environmental pollution. A qualitative descriptive method with a literature study approach was used, analyzing national and international scientific publications, community service reports, and related policy documents. The results show that plastic waste can be transformed into various creative products, such as handicrafts, planting pots, accessories, and household items, through an upcycling approach. This activity not only reduces the volume of plastic waste disposed of in the environment, but also provides economic value and strengthens community empowerment, particularly among housewives and youth. However, implementation still faces obstacles such as limited processing knowledge, inadequate production facilities, and weak marketing access. Strengthening training programs, government policy support, and collaboration among stakeholders are needed to make the creative utilization of plastic waste a sustainable movement in reducing environmental pollution.
